Primitive notions and propositions
- distinguish what is defined from what is accepted without definition;
- use point, line and plane notation;
- know the first postulates of Plane Geometry;
- prove that there are competing lines.
Every mathematical theory needs a starting point. If each concept were defined through others, and these through still others, we would never finish. That is why Geometry begins with some concepts accepted without definition and some statements accepted without demonstration. Everything else is built from them.
