Everyday data
A table tells a story
Three plants were measured on the same day:
| Plant | Height in centimeters |
|---|---|
| A | 10 |
| B | 12,5 |
| C | 11 |
The table organizes the information. To compare, we need to use the same unit. Draw three bars from a common line; each centimeter on paper can represent one centimeter in height.
Garden Challenge
Which plant is tallest? What is the difference between the highest and the lowest?
Check the analysis
Plant B is the tallest, at 12,5 centimeters. The difference for plant A is 12,5 − 10 = 2,5 centimeters.
Your turn: measure three objects, record the unit and create a table. Explain to someone what you discovered.
