When we divide by ten

A strip divided into 10 equal parts has tenths. One part represents 1/10 = 0,1; three parts represent 3/10 = 0,3. In decimal writing in Portuguese, we use a comma.

A meter is 100 centimeters. Thus, 25 centimeters represent 25/100 meter, or 0,25 meter. The unit is part of the information: 0,25 meter and 0,25 centimeter are different lengths.
