Geometry is looking carefully

The lid of a pot is round, the door is a rectangle, the roof resembles a triangle. On this trail, you learn to recognize these shapes, to draw them and to measure them. Each class has pictures to play with and a challenge at the end.

Discoveries itinerary

  • 1st and 2nd years: recognize flat shapes in objects and drawings; separate straight and curved lines.
  • 3rd year: count sides and vertices; compare figures; discover parallel and perpendicular lines.
  • 4th year: understand the angle as a turn; find right angles and axes of symmetry.
  • 5th year: measure perimeter and area on the mesh; Zoom in and out of figures while maintaining their shape.

How to enjoy each class

  1. Note: look for the form of the lesson at home or at school.
  2. Stir: use the interactive figures and see what changes.
  3. Draw: repeat on the graph paper what you discovered on the screen.
  4. Explain: tell someone why your answer is right.

There are also geometry classes on the [Natural Numbers] track(/en/posts/basic/natuais/fundamental-1/), that link shapes and counting.
